Experienced freelance writer, educator, nutritionist, herbalist, organic farmer, traveler, and lifelong student. The world is my classroom! I am here to learn and to teach. I look forward to working with you.
A native of Cape Cod, I grew up immersed in the rich artistic community of the Outer Cape. The tourist season was all hustle and bustle, but the quiet of the off-season (which at that time encompassed most of the year) encouraged creativity. The golden light of Autumn, the wind whipped waves of winter, the promise of new life as the crocuses push up through the last hint of snow in Spring, all stir the artist within.
I have dabbled in many artforms throughout the years, from painting to pottery to jewelry making, yet the common thread that runs throughout is my writing. From the moment I could read I was writing, and writing, and writing. The first poem I ever wrote in earnest won a writing contest and was published in an anthology.
Over the years I pursued many interests all revolving around my love of nature and my pursuit of better health through a holistic diet and lifestyle. I started my BA at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 2002, then left to travel the world. I found myself living and working on organic farms, making and selling jewelry, and journaling along the way.
I went on to study herbalism, earning a Master Herbalist certification in 2008 from the American College of Health Sciences. In 2015 I graduated from Bauman College of Nutrition and Culinary Arts as a Holistic Nutrition Consultant. During the pandemic I found time to circle back to UMASS and finished my BA in Holistic Healthcare and Entrepreneurship in the Fall of 2021.
In 2022 I purchased a 5-acre farm along the Central Coast of California with my loving partner of 12 years and our (then) 4-year-old son. We wasted no time in getting an organic garden growing, and albeit small in its second year now, it feeds us well. Our increasing menagerie of animals includes two generations of chickens, dairy goats, sheep, a couple cats, and our dear old lady, Almendra, who has travelled with me since she was born on the farm I lived on in Costa Rica 19 years ago!
These days I am committed to writing on all subjects I am passionate about. From gardening, homesteading, and animal husbandry to sustainable lifestyles, holistic nutrition, and herbal remedies. When I am not writing or hanging out with the animal crew, you can find me building sandcastles with my son and splashing in the waves of Monterey Bay in the Summer, and enjoying the bliss of the off season with family on the Outer Cape in the Fall.
